WANTED –The Legend of Robin Hood is set to light the stage with a fabulous version of a favourite traditional tale. It is the musical brainchild of Edward (Ed) Court, a 16 year old student from Witham, who has single-handedly composed the music, written the lyrics and produced the full script. As director, Ed has been an inspiration to his young cast, but it is the production of this musical that has seen Ed through a very difficult couple of years. In 2007 Ed was diagnosed with CFS/ME which had devastating effects on his education, home and social life. His creative and musical abilities became a therapeutic solution to help him through challenging times and since 2008 his plans for the musical have developed enormously into a project with his family, friends and the wider community.

Performed by a talented young cast, this uplifting new musical is full of colour, energy, tragedy and humour and will definitely leave you with the ‘feel good factor’. It maintains the essence of medieval England while delivering a modern commercial musical featuring songs and music in many different styles including gospel, rock, pop, jazz, disco and ballad.
The musical is based on the characters we all recognise including Little John, who is aptly played by 6ft 6in Ed himself.

Ed’s theatre group is called ACE Youth Musical Theatre, using the initials of his parents, Anthony, Cathy (and Ed). Between them, they have many years experience managing and performing in amateur productions and have supported Ed throughout the production of his musical. Finding a balance between a top quality amateur production and low costs is always a challenge but thanks to the support of Essex County Council Youth Opportunity Fund and the Hervey Benham Charitable Trust the show will be a high quality, polished production that is professionally equipped for an outstanding performance.

All profits will be donated to Great Ormond Street Hospital in very grateful thanks for the help and support they are giving Ed on the CFS/ME rehabilitation programme.
